Education Administration Intern


The Center for Hearing and Speech in Houston is seeking an Education Administration intern for the Melinda Webb School. Applicants interested in gaining a real hands-on experience and learning about education administration are preferred. The candidate will work closely with the CHS Director of Education. Internship is unpaid, but course credit may be received.

Duties include early childhood education curriculum and instruction development, program quality assessment and improvement plan development, hands-on instruction for deaf children learning spoken language. 



Qualified candidates will be currently enrolled in college, studying education, education administration or an early-childhood development related field. Must be self-motivated, capable of multi-tasking, good with deadlines, have excellent writing skills and be highly organizational.

Internship will run from early September to mid- May, 2016. The position averages 15-20 hours per week and the work schedule is flexible.

The Center for Hearing and Speech is a non-profit, United Way agency that teaches children with hearing impairments speaking, listening and literacy skills. CHS was founded in 1947 by four parents who wanted their children with hearing impairments to communicate by speaking instead of using sign language. CHS provides education, audiology and speech pathology services to more than 7,000 children with mild to profound hearing loss.
