The Community Relations and Development Department of the Center for Hearing and Speech is seeking three fall interns:Volunteer and Events Coordination, Public Relations and Marketing, and Events Management.
 
This is an exciting opportunity to get hands-on experience during three of our busiest months as we prepare for our largest fundraiser, Houston Via Colori Street Painting Festival, www.HoustonViaColori.com
 
 

Volunteer and Events Coordination Internship:

The Center for Hearing and Speech in Houston is looking for a student studying a communications or project management-related field. Applicants interested in gaining a real hands-on experience and learning about volunteer engagement and event coordination of a local nonprofit are preferred. The candidate will work closely with the CHS Development Department. College credit may be obtained for this internship.

Duties will include assisting in preparation for Houston Via Colori® (the Center’s annual street painting festival fundraiser), planning the artist reception, volunteer coordination, some promotional weekend events, and other relevant tasks. This position also will include a focus on volunteer relations and appreciation. Candidate will need to be available for Via Colori the weekend of November 22 – 23.

 

Public Relations and Marketing Internship:

The Center for Hearing and Speech in Houston is seeking a student studying public relations, marketing, journalism or a communications-related field. Applicants interested in gaining a real hands-on experience and learning about the communications side of a local nonprofit are preferred. The candidate will work closely with the CHS Development Department. Internship is unpaid, but course credit may be received. Internship will be September 9 – December 4, 2014. Candidate will need to be available for Via Colori the weekend of November 22 – 23.

Duties will include research, writing, assisting in all PR and marketing initiatives, assisting in preparation for Houston Via Colori® (CHS’s annual street painting festival fundraiser), newsletter development, and other relevant tasks. This position also will include a focus on using social media networks as a valuable public relations tool. 

 

Events Management Internship:

The Center for Hearing and Speech in Houston is seeking a student studying communications, business or marketing-related field. Applicants interested in gaining a real hands-on experience and learning about the event planning and logistics side of a local nonprofit are preferred. The candidate will work closely with the CHS Development Department. Internship is unpaid, but course credit may be received. Internship will be September 2 – December 4, 2014.

Duties will include managing the Via Colori® Scavenger Hunt (ticketing, logistics, marketing and public relations), assisting in preparation for Houston Via Colori® (CHS’s annual street painting festival fundraiser), and other relevant tasks.
